The Jordan Retro 11 is a re-release of the top-performing shoe that helped Michael Jordan deliver a 72-win season, his fourth ring, and an All-Star/Finals MVP sweep in the 1995-96 campaign. As he’d announced in March of that year, Jordan meant it when he said, “I’m back.” MJ debuted the shoe during the 1995 playoffs, and it dropped officially later that year, in plenty of time for the next season. In following Jordan’s desire for a shoe he could wear with a suit, and in reviewing film that showed Jordan needed more support when making lateral cuts, designer Tinker Hatfield killed two birds with one stone, introducing patent leather to the rand.
